Source Description:

Wardour Castle, Wiltshire (with tree), from John Preston Neale’s Views of the Seats of Noblemen and Gentlemen in England and Wales, Scotland and Ireland.

Additional Image:

Printed number "1" also found on the underside of the plate.  It is possibly a workman's mark.

Description:

An earthenware soup plate printed in blue with the named view Wardour Castle, Wiltshire.  This version includes a tree placed prominently in the foreground of the landscape.  A second version, also included in this exhibit, was produced on a 10 inch plate without the tree. This scene was also printed . Printed title mark and impressed maker’s mark. The source print for this pattern
