Description:

An earthenware covered tureen base with molded handles. The pattern on this dish is one of many variations of a popular series named Muleteer.  All of the patterns in this series include a man and a mule in a Romantic Italianate landscape. At least 12 pattern versions are known.  Multicolored versions were printed up to 1840 using green, blue and black outlines with dark shading.
