Description:

Transfer printed dust-pressed tile, all-over design of overlapping Japanese mons, monochrome, design attributed to Owen Gibbons. Gibbons trained at the South Kensington Schools of Art, London, and was involved with the decoration of the South Kensington Museum (V&A) buildings in the late 1860s. He was then curator of the Royal Architectural Museum, Westminster, London before becoming head of the Coalbrookdale School of Art in Shropshire....
