Description:
A molded, soft paste porcelain dish with applied handles, and with enameled band to the scalloped rim. The center with a black print known as L'Amour which depicts two figures seated on a garden bench, the gentleman bending over to kiss the hand of the lady, her maid stands behind the bench. The engraving is attributed to Robert Hancock, after a design by Charles-Nicholas Cochin the younger (1717-90), published by Vivares and first used at the Bow porcelain factory. It can be found on other ceramics including Chinese porcelain and English creamware; it also occurs on enamels and wallpaper.[i]
