Printed and Painted 1750 - 1820

The items included in this section exhibit an extraordinary variety of wares achieved by combining printing and painting techniques.  Exhibited here are examples of printing with painting-in underglaze, examples of printing underglaze and enameling overglaze, as well as a combination of both. In some cases, the items have been both printed and painted (enameled) over the glaze.  Both porcelain and earthenware bodies can be found in this section.  In each example the printing and painting techniques are described.
