From a series depicting the Seasons designed by William Wise for Mintons, introduced around 1885. The tile bears the signature "W. Wise" on the bottom right and is marked on the reverse 'Minton China Works Ltd.'.William Wise was one of a number of designers and illustrators who turned their hand to the design of tile decoration for Mintons China Works in the late 19th century. The Minton pattern books shown this pattern number 1996 with additional designs in each corner.This example was exhibited in the Northern Ceramic Society exhibition, Collecting English Pottery and Porcelain, Temple Newsam, Leeds, 1974.
