Description:

This bowl is decorated with three prints from the Rural Scenery Group.  Prints from this group are mainly found on punch bowls. This group of prints is discussed by Maurice Hillis in Liverpool Porcelain 1756-1804.   The print of the Rural Lovers belonging to this group is rarer and more finely engraved than the versions frequently found on Liverpool tea and coffee wares.  The different versions of the Rural Lovers used at Liverpool and their attributional significance is discussed by Maurice Hillis in the chapter of his Liverpool book devoted to underglaze blue printing.
