|
Shape Type: Miscellaneous Pattern Type: Chinese, Asian and Other Exotic Themes Date: 1765-1770 Dimensions:
Maker: Bow Description: This bell shaped mug has a grooved strap handle with a heart shaped motif at the lower terminal. This motif is considered to be a Bow characteristic. The mug is printed with a Chinese building within a fenced garden, with two swans swimming to the left. This is an expanded version of a pattern first encountered on Worcester porcelain and then used at Bow. The building in the enlarged version is taller and is topped with a cantilevered structure. The enlarged version was also used at Derby and at Cockpit Hill. The cell border is also printed. |
