Maker: Rathbone Description: A jug bat-printed and colored with a woman waving aloft a bow which has been taken from a sleeping Cupid, and with roses around the neck. The same scene is repeated on the second side. This handle is typical of Rathbone and found on all sizes of their jugs; those using under-glaze blue in the decoration are usually marked with a blue R in a sunburst. The jug is initialed and dated, 'AH 1824'. |
