Description:

This Worcester butter tub, cover and stand is decorated with a popular series of prints known as the Rose-Centered Spray Group.  The main design can be seen on the stand, while the tub and cover are decorated with various subsidiary prints, sprays and insects.  The design on the body of the tub was subsequently developed as a separate pattern called the Three Flowers.  Both of these popular patterns were copied at Caughley and Lowestoft.  Lowestoft also sometimes copied the Worcester crescent mark but the poorer quality printing and the different body and glaze usually allow its wares to be easily distinguished.

This Worcester butter tub has painted borders.  This ensured accurate fitting of the borders to the porcelain but increased the cost.
