Maker: Robert Hamilton Description: An earthenware pierced stand printed in blue underglaze with overglaze enameling in several colors. The border consists of a combination of geometric shapes and medallions with Chinese landscape scenes. This example is unmarked but the pattern is known on pieces with an impressed HAMILTON STOKE mark. The structure on the right comes from a source print titled Hotun on the Canton River. The boat in the foreground comes from a second print titled South West View of Canton. The source, if any, of the structure on the left is unknown. |
